ANIMATION STUDIO
Stop motion animation is the perfect outlet for kids' stories. For the Animation Studio experience, I designed an iPad animation station that takes finicky camerawork out of the picture so kids can focus on telling their stories. I developed storytelling tools to inspire creative storylines, and a series of video tutorials so learners can step up their stop-mo techniques.
ANIMATION STATION
The Animation Station is the centerpiece of the studio. It removes the obstacle of wobbly camera work to let kids focus on the stories (literally) at hand. I developed the concept based on my graduate thesis work, designed and tested prototypes, and managed the final outside design to production.
STORYBUILDER CARDS
My formula for a story is a Person + a Place + a Problem. I concepted, tested, and illustrated these cards that inspire creative stories by picking one from each deck.
CHARACTER CREATION
To help kids create their own drawn characters, I illustrated this character creation tool where they can mix and match body parts to trace to make something unique.
ANIMATION PAPER PEOPLE
Tasked with finding a cheap way to make customizable animation characters with moveable parts, I designed these cut-and-color creatures for stop-motion.
ANTLERS UP! ANIMATION
I designed a game show for kids that gets played daily at camps across the country, and animated the how-to-play video using the tools from the Animation Studio.
